History
Ma'at was born into a litter of three in a distant pride to parents Khnum and Haribu, only called the Kongwe pride. She was the middle child, with her sister Bastet as the eldest, and Hathor as the youngest. Life wasn't always sunshine and rainbows, but the three made due. But the problems became more apparent as they grew older, and their parents could no longer shield them from the truth.
The pride had become small at that point, with most of its still adult members old and beyond breeding age, and it didn't help that the all too vain and narrow-minded queen, Kaidi, refused to do the rational thing of letting in rogues to breath life and broaden the gene pool of the pride. She ruled the roost, and the king, Amri, had no say in anything. He, Rindimo (Kaidi's nephew), and Khnum were only there to defend the pride. Nothing more, nothing less. It didn't help that she refused to name a proper heir because they didn't have the marks that she desired.
The adults argued about it day in and day out, and it seemed like it wouldn't end, but it stopped once Hathor became pregnant from Kaidi's son, Ondoka, because they never learned about that sort of thing. Ma'at's parents were beyond angry, and Kaidi was even more so, and called for Hathor's cub to be killed once it was born to prevent her royal line from being tainted by lesser blood. But the man queen's blood lust was stopped by the pride's eldest lioness and most respected member, Nuru.
Once Ma'at's neice, Awali, was born, Kaidi seemed all too happy. She said that she finally had the heir she wanted, and would take her and raise her to rule over all lesser lions once she was weaned, and named her before even Hathor could try to name her daughter. Ma'at and Khnum had then enough of Kaidi's bullcrap, and came up with a plan to leave the pride with their small family. Thus, they all left with a few surprise members of the old pride in tow.
The small group then wandered for days, trying to find some place that they would be safe. But words of trouble reached them, and they were afraid to continue on, so Ma'at decided to go on alone and find somewhere they would be safe. It hurt to leave them behind, but she had a mission.
Family Tree
Khnum and Haribu (Parents)
Bastet and Hathor (Sisters)
Awali (Niece through Hathor)
Sample Post
"ROAR!!"
*Crack*
Ma'at let the now dead klipspringer out of the vice-grip of her jaws and slip to the ground as the rest of the klipspringers she had been hunting ran away in fear. It was a pretty clean kill, except for some blood that leaked through the killing bite she had done to its neck to break it quickly, but it was better then nothing. It would be enough to satisfy her hunger and keep her going for a few days, at least until she needed to hunt again.
She was smart enough to hunt away from the borders of any prides, so they couldn't do anything to her and say "you hunted on our land!". Plus, some prides were way too uptight about that sort of thing. Ma'at had had enough of that to last an entire lifetime, in all honesty. The lioness took one last look around and leaned down to enjoy her meal, and felt satisfied. As long as luck was on her side, she could do anything!
