History
Born in one of the many caves running all through the Cliffsides, Nguvu has no memory of her mother, and no idea who her father was. She only vaguely remembers the myriad lionesses who tended to her as she grew. And grew. Big for a cub, she only continued to grow, surpassing even most male lions in weight and strength by the time she reached her full size. Unfortunately, her mental abilities developed in stark contrast to her great size and strength, leaving her barely able to grasp even simple concepts.
However, her great strength had not gone unnoticed, and she was chosen to be one of Bewaarder's brides after he became the new Warden, along with Uzuri and Ubongo. She bore Bewaarder a son, Pyn, not long after the birth of Nux, but her lacking mental state meant she did rather little when it came to caring for the cub. Not because she didn't care about him, but because she struggled to remember to look after him, and a couple times she came close to sitting or stepping on him.
After Pyn was old enough to look after himself, Nguvu's life largely returned to normal, except she was given anything she needed, or could think to ask Bewaarder for, which, without some prompting, was hardly anything. She had plenty to eat, and couldn't imagine any other life. While she heard plenty of talk about some pride or another from distant lands, she was unable to understand much of it, just as she only barely understood why Bewaarder kept so many different creatures trapped in the caves.
She mainly concerned herself with getting through each passing day without running into anybody, or getting lost. On some days she actually succeeded.

Dull, thumping footsteps echoed softly in the cave, replacing the desperate pleas and snarled threats that had filled the air not moments before. As Nguvu approached, the jackal that a lion and a lioness had been escorting to the prison caves cowered as her massive shadow fell over him, and the guards, who had previously seemed so big, dwarfed by her enormity, stepped aside to keep from being knocked down.
Terrified whimpers escaped the canine as she lowered her massive head and sniffed at him for a brief moment in curiosity, then continued on her way. Ignoring the subdued sounds behind her, the musclebound lioness paused as she came to a split in the cave, gazing down first one, then the other of the winding passages. Which way was it? After a few moments of hesitation, she shrugged, and took the left passage. Sooner or later, she would find her den. Or somebody who could lead her to it.
After a few minutes of wandering, she arrived at a passage with a dead end. She stared at the wall for a moment, then abruptly sat down rather heavily, wondering where the tunnel had gone. Her face scrunched up as she struggled to remember what she'd been told to do if she found herself facing a tunnel with a dead end. After a few moments, she slowly nodded to herself, and rose to her feet before turning her back on the dead end. A pleased smile crossed her face as she padded heavily on her way.
