History
Peké was born to a pride of white lions that belonged in a jungle. This jungle was distant enough from the Pridelands to have no connection with them, but close enough for lions to potentially travel to either location. Note: This jungle is not the same jungle that Timone and Pumbaa lived in.
The pride did not call themselves royalty, but they acted like it and were treated like it. A band of white lions was incredibly rare in Africa, with the only other band existing in nature reserves. Each member of the pride would take care to respect other animals, despite that they did not make much of an effort to speak or work with the animals. When they hunted, they only took down what was needed, and attempted to target the old or the deathly sick. The lions were not cruel, taking effort to not hunt down members of families or young ones. They had a habit of driving away cruel jungle cats from their home, which earned the begrudging respect of prey animals. The jungle was very much like a paradise for the lions, as well as several other animals, despite that the lions had to adapt their hunting into something more unique then the classic hunting strategy that lions would partake in the savanna.
Seeing as they maintained a sort of "order" in their jungle, one could perceive the group of lions as royalty. Their white coats aided in making them appear quite regal, and the calm temperament displayed by the male leader could easily be considered the noble and kind attitude of a King. None of the lions called themselves royalty mostly because they didn't feel the need to, though regardless they had their own hierarchy with a monogamous male and female pair of lions that had a certain authority over the rest. No one contested this, as the authority was not abused, and balance and peace continued among the pride and jungle.
One day, Peké was born. It had been a happy day. The pride was delighted by their bundle of joy (despite that they had hoped for a larger litter), Maridadi (the mother) was pleased and glowing with pride over having a new cub she could keep, and Sero (the father) was incredibly excited over this event, seeing as he'd never had a cub of his own before now. Every lioness in the pride were happy, and Peké was given quite a lot of attention as a baby cub. No conflict was present, and everyone was quite happy to accept him as the future leader of their pride. The cub would grow bigger without incident, having a large jungle to explore and play with, as well as a large father to be his playmate and a mother to be his guide.
The jungle was certainly much like an oasis... It saw a lot of rainfall and moisture, with dense vegetation that the pride had learned to maneuver around. This was a matter of their climate, which is why it was so damaging to the jungle when a drought had finally hit it. Water never ceased to come to their large oasis in the past... So when months went by with no rains, the plant life began to suffer greatly. It was not built for droughts that most of Africa was used to seeing, and it was certainly not meant to be as dry as it was... The lions were powerless to help. Soon, the worst would happen, as the heat of the day had triggered a brush fire that erupted and proceeded to destroy all of the jungle.
Sero had been with his mate, her sister, another lioness and Peké at the time. All together, they made it out of the jungle, but despite Maridadi's pleas and angry shouts, Sero had gone back into the jungle once he knew his mate and cub were safe. "The other lionesses need my help." was the last thing that Peké would hear from his father.
With spirits low, the mourning trio of lionesses left their home, taking and protecting Peké along with them. He still had been rather young and tiny, often being carried by one of the lionesses when the traveling had been too difficult. Time would pass, and the group would find themselves in a seemingly-endless grasslands, with no real clear goal of where to go. Slowly, their morale would deteriorate practically under naive Pekés nose. Maridadi and her sister, Amridadi, began to consider attempting to return to their original pride, but faltered in this idea since bringing Peké would surely be out of the question. The third lioness had been like a sister to them in the jungle, but she soon found that the two blood-sisters began changing their attitudes. As if being from different prides made her an outcast.
Fighting and arguing began among the lionesses, the stress of travel and the loss taking its tole on them.
And soon the group began to break apart.
It began one night with the third lioness simply... leaving while they were all asleep. Peké didn't understand this, and his mother and auntie didn't explain it for him to understand.
They continued traveling aimlessly, with Maridadi taking up Pekés time and attention with hunting lessons. She expressed an almost uncharacteristic patience with him as he was taught, teaching him day after day and instructing him to try as often as possible without overpressuring the cub. He was taught everything; how to stalk, when to pounce, the need to be patient, and possibly the most important of all, why they hunted mostly at night. Their fur did not aid in keeping them hidden during the day, and though it was possible to catch prey during the day, it was unlikely and usually not worth the expended energy. Slowly, Peké began to display a talent for hunting, regardless of being a male of his species. He'd catch things at night (all of which were small prey, of course), but it was the time he managed to catch something during the day that things changed for good.
Assured by his hunting and praising him, Peké spent that day enjoying the pride of catching something at the hardest point of the day, and went to sleep with a full belly, having been told to keep the catch to himself. The sleep was pleasant... but upon waking up, he'd find that he was all alone.
And this is where his journey truly begins.
Family Tree
Sero - Deceased - Father, and leader of his previous pride.
A king, noble, proud, and somewhat... lazy lion. Sero didn't mind letting the lionesses provide the food, and he didn't mind sleeping off most of the day to prowl at night. Though when a serious matter did come up, he also did not mind doing his job and attending to it straight away. Much of his personality is very... playful, and lazy, like a cub in an adults body. He'd enjoy sleeping, playing (especially with his young son), teasing his mate, and generally enjoying his life which had very little excitement in it. No one would really expect Sero to act like a hero... But he did. In the end, he'd perish in a fire making an effort to aid other lionesses that were trapped in their home.
Maridadi - Missing - Mother, and leader of his previous pride.
While Sero was kind, patient, and genuinely fun, Maridadi was serious and quite cynical. She had a tendency to scoff at many things, including her mates lazy playfulness and teasing nature. Unlike Sero, she wasn't actually born within the jungle. Originally, Maridadi had been from a different nature reserve quite a distance away, but past events resulted in her leaving her home. Unfortunately, the laws of the wild were more present in that nature reserve; she had been a young mother when a new male lion had taken over the pride. He did not tolerate the young offspring of his competing lion. After the loss of her first child, she left the lands, and was strikingly fortunate enough to find another white lion, who happened to be Sero! He welcomed her to his jungle home (he had been a descendant of the previous leader of the pride), and the rest is history... While Maridadi could be cynical, impatient, and even somewhat mean, she did know when to control herself and soften her words. Being outrageously cruel is not a trait of hers, despite that being kind is also not a trait of hers. As a mother, she was encouraging and loving, as well as happy, for a little while, anyway...
Amridadi - Missing - Auntie, sister of Maridadi.
However, Maridadi had not been completely alone during her travels. Amridadi had followed her, both striving to leave the pride that had been taken over by a foreign male. Amridadi had been younger than her sister, being more of a "teenager" so to speak, and followed her sister out of proud loyalty and spite to their old pride. She was certainly more open and curious than her sister was, but shared a similar sense of cynicism after learning the harsh ways of the wild at a relatively young age.

(At least two paragraphs for semi-canons and film canons & 1 for OC's & BG's)The grassland looked thin, crusty, and dry, but the early morning made it look much better than it actually was. Peke enjoyed this fact, and thus he could be found out and about, bouncing along with a large grin on his face. The sun was just beginning to rise, and had not yet warmed the land, so he made a point to trot along quickly to warm himself. Taking a deep breath through his pink nose, he let it out through his mouth and finally stopped, letting his eyes rest closed for a moment, tail flicking energetically behind him. He had yet to stumble upon any breakfast, and the chill from last night made it difficult to get a good sleep, but despite his complaints the morning always put him in such a great mood. The air was so crisp and fresh, everything was so silent but not threateningly so, who wouldn't love the mornings?
Reopening his eyes and briefly banning his overly-cheerful attitude, Peke began walking again but much slower and quieter. His rumbling stomach demanded that he at least try to search for breakfast, and despite how empty these lands felt he'd patiently stalk for any potential small prey. Doubting that he'd actually find something right away, Peke honestly found his sneaking as a source of entertainment, his young imagination taking him to a land filled with wildabeast, all completely oblivious to his sneaky presence. His grin widened and his head lowered down even further below his shoulders, trying to contain his excitement and keep his flicking tail low. The lion drew closer, and closer to his imaginary wildabeast target... and he leaped! "Peke gets the biggest one!" The young one announced as he leaped his way atop a small boulder, lifting his head high and letting his abnormally-fuzzy chest poke out in pride. Giving a short chuckle, Peke sighed and slumped forward, looking out over the empty lands. "Well... eventually. Maybe." He shrugged, walking off the rock and continuing his aimless trek forward.
