History
The oldest of two littermates, Madoa has always taken the role very seriously. She and Jasiri were raised by parents who had left Shenzi’s clan when Scar had started getting involved in hyena affairs. Always odd amongst their clan, the couple had respected the Circle of Life as the lions understood it; and, well aware that Scar intended to mess it up for everyone, wanted no part in the scheming. The two started a small clan of their own, and raised their two daughters to similarly believe in their way of life.
When they were younger, Madoa was always the overbearing big sister. As a cub, she saw it as her role to keep Jasiri out of (what she saw as) trouble; and, with Jasiri ever the adventurous one of the sisters, that proved to be easier said than done. For a long while, Madoa found herself increasingly frustrated with her sibling, until their mother reminded her that Jasiri’s nature served the small clan just as much as Madoa’s own protective instincts did. With this reminder came new acceptance of each other and, by the time Wema and Tunu were born, the two sisters were getting along well together.
It proved just as well; Jasiri’s nature of being more willing to take risks paid off a short while later, when a pride of strange lions stole the family’s watering hole. The younger of the sisters had, apparently, befriended a lion of her own shortly before and, though uncertain, Madoa didn’t try to stop her from calling on her friend for help. After Kion did indeed come through for the family, the older sister willingly confessed that she’d been wrong.
Still, when things started to become unsettled in the Pride Lands, Madoa’s big-sister protective instincts began to kick in full-time again…
Family Tree
Jasiri, Wema, Tunu (siblings); unnamed parents
Sample Post
“Jasiri… can we talk?”
It was no lie to say that the older of the two sisters was worried. Night had fallen, and Wema and Tunu were sound asleep and hopefully dreaming happy dreams; and the duo of more mature hyenas were sitting alone on a rock that overlooked their watering hole. The place still smelled of lions, Madoa couldn’t help but notice, and her nose wrinkled slightly.
“I know that Kion’s a good lion. He and his friends got us out of a tight spot, and I’m grateful to him. But- I overheard a rumour that there may be trouble brewing in the Pride Lands.”
Knowing Jasiri, the younger hyena was already aware of that fact. She got out and about a lot more than Madoa herself who, as big sister, saw it as her duty to take care of their young siblings until they were old enough to fend for themselves. If she was the cubs’ closest protector, Jasiri was the family’s provider, spying out good food and calling the rest of the family in to feast.
Just because Jasiri was more than used to looking out for herself, however, didn’t allay Madoa’s big-sisterly concerns.
“I don’t think you should get involved, Jasiri. I know Kion’s your friend, but there’s nothing we can do to help from out here. You’re not going to go looking for trouble, are you?”
