Kiara, princess of the pridelands and Kion, prince of the pridelands don't know very much.
They know their father's terribly protective, they know they're not to go beyond the boundary of the pridelands. And they know of the death of their grandfather at the hands of the dark King Scar.
But those facts are just the tip of the iceberg when in comes to what's going on with the lions of Africa.
For example, the evil former Queen Zira is in the outlands training her hand chosen son to take Scar's place and kill Simba.
Many of Simba and Nala's cubhood friends have moved on and had prides all their own. Prides which are starting to come back.
Lions are throwing their sons at Kiara hoping for betrothal and therefore a share of the Pridelands, the most fruitful and beautiful land in the area.
A nearby pride, once warring between each other in four clans, has now formed one single pride among four leaders after taking on a single enemy.
It's a game of war among these creatures. Especially with the encroaching hyenas clans, upset by their exile from any nearby lands including their precious graveyard.
Among the pridelands royalty, Kiara's younger brother Kion also looks to find his place. Kion is fierce and brave and after playing with his friend Bunga he discovers "The Roar of the Elders" and...his path to be the leader of the Lion Guard. Choosing his friends Fuli, Bunga, Beshte and Ono to join him, Kion leads the Lion Guard to fight to defend the pridelands!
But are things so simple for Kion and Kiara? And will the guard be able to protect the pridelands from what's coming over the horizon...
